Liverpool has been at the forefront of recreational and competitive gymnastics for over a decade, having produced many outstanding regional, national and international champions.

These include former world silver medallist and Commonwealth Games Champion Neil Thomas and the current British Champion and Gold medallist at the Manchester 2002 commonwealth games, Beth Tweddle. Beth is Britains most succesful gymnasts having also won Gold at the 2006 World Championships.

Classes are held throughout the city's sports centres with the opportunity for talented youngsters to progress to the Park Road Gymnastics Centre, one of the best centres of excellence in the country where they can receive specialist training from a range of expert men's and women's gymnastic coaches.

The British Gymnastics Net - The place to be for British gymnastics! Liverpool's Hannah Whelan came an excellent 4th place AA at the European Youth Olympic Festival - the highest result ever for a British gymnast at this competition. Liverpool team-mate Abi-Louise Kirby came 16th.
