Liverpool Soccer Centre

With the opening of the Liverpool Soccer Centre in 1999, a joint venture between Liverpool County F.A. and the council, amateur football has really come of age.
The city's Football Development Officer is charged with the responsibility of developing the game in areas where traditionally participation has been low, in particular aiming initiatives at girls and women, people with disabilities and socially disadvantaged youngsters.
The success of these programmes has enabled thousands of people from a range of backgrounds to become involved in well-organised courses and competitions with meaningful outcomes.

But he was determined to see football continue at the ground. He formed a new club from scratch, chose the name Liverpool… and created a legend.
